Karrie's Birthday in Nha Trang

So I started this particular morning at 9am, I heading out into the streets of Vietnam to grab a bag full of beverages (Coffee, orange juice, apple juice, Saigon beer, green tea and soya milk) and picked up Oreos, Ritz, bacon, eggs, baguette and french fries for breakfast..

breakfast in bed ,served hot!
Breakfast in Bed

Karrie played some Plants vs. Zombies (An awesome game btw: if you haven't started playing this game this is the time, do it. Do it now.)  then took a nap.

After her short slumber she read her Happy B-day messages on facebook, when she was all done we got all prettied up and out to the beach for a crappy dinner at a real fancy restaurant and some really good girly drinks and cheese cake. (The girly drinks and cheese cake was from a different joint)
Karrie's free drink from the Sailing Club and her birthday Cheese Cake!

So after our drinks with booze and ice cream we decide to drink the last of the Jagermister for some reason I didn't have a cup so I had to use my cereal bowl. That is right kids you heard it here first Jenny was drinking Jagermister out of a plastic bowl....next thing I know all the Jagermister was gone!!!

We headed out for more booze. Got a mickey of rum for $2, then picked up sushi....I had a craving. The stand next to us while waited for our sushi was nice enough to give us free cups for our rum...

Our take away sushi was finally ready and off to the room to drink our rum and watch 'The breakfast club' (something about 80's movies that can end a great night)

Since my new found cup was filled with rum. I had no where to put my soya sauce so into the bowl that I use my Jagermister (I did not wash it first, to drunk, sushi looked good, must eat now) ...so my soya sauce kind of tasted like Jager. Yum. <3

The sushi we had made up for the crappy expensive dinner we had earlier in the night...I am not even going to go into detail.

So we listened to awesome music while drinking:
Led Zep
John Lennon
Xavier Rudd
Ill Scarlett
Sublime
Eric Clapton
Rollin' Stones
Van Morrison
Jimmy Hendrix
Tom Petty
Weezer
Blood Hound Gang
Lonely Island
Some Thailand songs: Unknown Bands.
Bob Marley
And many more....

The necklace I got Karrie for her B-day!

Karrie I love you.

She even got a bunch of presents through out the day, an art book, two pairs of earrings, a Tom and Jerry note book, drinking dice and  a beautiful necklace. <3

Leaving Mui Ne

So the bus was suppose to pick us up from our hotel at 1:30pm it was an hour late. I am not sure why but we have been having a hard time these past couple of days. Not sleeping for me which isn't unusual but Karrie getting sick and getting worst closer we get to her birthday. I have been having terrible luck since I left Saigon with food and haven't had a satisfying meal in 2 days. I knew I should have never steered away from Pho... :/ For some reason the people that were working at hour cabin like guest house were all grumpy and lacked the ability to speak English. The man at the front desk used a series of grunts ans gestures that I didn't understand. Also I still cannot figure out why there was a monkey in a cage.

Its so windy!
Boats!

Mui Ne beach.

Sand dunes in Vietnam, Mui Ne...Karrie thinks its just sand....I disagree, it is sand hills.

Sleeper bus.
Along the way to Nha Trang mostly still in the vicinity of Mui Ne I got a chance to take some pictures of the surrounding area.

Arrival in Mui Ne Beach

So we got on the bus at 8pm leaving Saigon and our comfy guest house and off to an odd sleeper bus. Where I watched all the strange Asian B-movies they provided with no sound and sub titles that were way to small for me to read. At about 1am we stopped at Hung gas station, then back on the bus....oddly enough 30 minutes later they kicked us off the bus in to a street with nothing going on. Luckly we found a cabin like room for 10US with A/C, wifi and hot water....

Famous for Kite surfing.

The waves were so high that they almost hit us when crashing up against the stairs.

The restaurant that we ate dinner at today, they had $1-$2-$3 food to choose from.
The weather isn't very nice we haven't seen any sun today so we are making a move tomorrow to Nha Trang. There are some sand dunes here that Karrie wanted to see but since she is ill, we will have to pass on them this time around.

Cu Chi Tunnels and Shooting Range!

This morning at 8am we hoped on a bus for 2 hours to the Cu Chi tunnels were the Viet Cong fought the Americans using guerrilla war tactics in I believe it was 1959.

Before we we got there we stopped for a pit stop at a place where they made lacquered man made Vietnamese goods. I found the details and how innovative they were with their art somewhat out of this world.

Saigon a city of 9 million, 4 million of them are moto bike drivers.

Vietnamese lady making tiger art out of egg shells.

A finished piece made with egg shells with a lacquered finish.

A trap door that the Viet Cong made to kill Americans.

The tunnels!

A tank- self explanatory.

Me shooting my first real gun!!

They told me that Karrie is a better shot than me, I am not surprised I think she is meant to be a sniper in the war. She would be the person I would pick to cover me while I hack and slash zombies with my melee weapons. ie. Jian, Katana, short blades, staff etc.

I don't know why my expression is like that, there is also a man behind me crawling on all fours telling you that the tunnel is indeed very low. About a meter high! Trivia: Viet Cong's were about 5 foot tall and 90 lbs (45 kgs) they ate nothing but tapioca with peanut dip and rice.
Here is the wiki link-Cu Chi Tunnels

At the Cu Chi tunnels was a shooting range, I have never shot a real gun in my life so this was a great experience for me. I got to shot 5 rounds from a M16!!

JENNY'S RECOMMENDATION ON ACCOMMODATIONS:
Karrie and I are currently staying in a brand new guest house called "MAI-" they provide Cable TV, Free internet, wifi, A/C, hot shower and when I say hot shower I mean you literally have to turn it down to avoid scalding yourself. The rooms are immaculately clean and it is owned by a family that are so accommodating and friendly. They do cheap laundry, have bus services, the owner speaks great English and is super helpful. The guest house is safe they lock up at 11pm, it is however tucked away in a back alley of the foreign district surrounded by local food venders and is close to the market.

For a room that has two double beds, A/C, wifi, hot shower, flat screen TV with cable, a mini fridge and even a small packet of body soap when we arrived we paid 16US/per night. Definitely the nicest place we have stay in yet and was worth every dollar, I almost don't want to leave.

ADDRESS: "MAI" 241/41 Pham Ngu Lao, Street Dist.1 Ho Chi Minh City

Directions: If you are on Pham Ngu Lao Street there is a small western union, it does look like a sketchy alley way next to it (go down that street) but everyone around there are nice. There is also an Indian Food restaurant as you enter in on your left.

If you are on Bui Vien Street it is tucked in between a very busy Vietnamese restaurant with tiny stools and many people drinking beer.....this is if you are walking away from the Crazy Buffalo you will turn right. If you are facing the buffalo you will turn left after the Donar/Vietnamese sandwich stand.

Best of luck I hope you can find it.

Tomorrow we depart for the beach.
