Maiden Voyage

This weekend was a joyous occasion, for the first time after buying the trailer we finally took her on her first voyage. Living in it in one location has shown me the perks of having a set up for our new "rig". Learning all the small things that one has to do to have our Creekside road-ready was an interesting journey. Not only have I not done this before, but I have also wanted nothing more than to travel in my home on wheels. A reliable mode of transportation that carries all our belongings with us.

Instead of a tent and supplies with a pseudo home base or one that is very much stationary where the rest of your possessions resides. We were able to spend the money, effort and time turning this dream we talked about into reality by sourcing out the ideal camper without breaking the bank.

My love sussed out all the necessary essentials for all the hookups, soon we were moving into our tiny home...now we are literal (2 months now). I realize that we won't be setting up and tearing down as often as I have daydreamed of but the ability is dormant until required.

The beauty of this trip is I got to experience first hand not having any hookups, one could say pampered. Not having the amenities available and most of all weathering the outdoors in a moving home, understanding the dangers and risks of everything we owned being tested the mountainous roads ahead.

I won't quit daydreaming but I have a wider perspective on the possibilities ahead, it will be challenging. Seriously though, I feel like I was born ready for this. With all the adjustments we want to make it will be glourious when we have it right and it suits us perfectly, inside and out.

Reign Bough Fiddle

This was a festival was like none I have ever been to before. I knew it from the moment I saw dogs and children running around. It was a beautiful sight, seeing the sun come down and friends new and old working on projects all across the grounds.

Soon after settling in we waited for the upcoming storm. I had already spent a couple days in Edmonton weathering the rain and grabbing a new pair of shoes that don't leak.

While it was hot and Justin put up the tarp with quite a bit of effort. It was lovely that he did because little did we know that we had to set up camp in the rain and tarp he set up in the sunshine was our saving grace.

The following days one tarp became a handful and soon we were called tarp city! It wasn't as big as it could have been but the amount of coverage gave us shelter and over time we gained a lot of accommodating neighbours.

Everyone pitched in together and made sure that the tarps didn't fly away and pegs being ripped out of the ground by winds were being manned. The boys did a wonderful job taking shifts and making sure our humble sanctuary from the storm was tended too.

This festival was the first time I had ever been able to play with dogs and work with children. We quested and built things, making benches and bartering with children to only team up and finish all the adventures. It gave me a whole new feeling to what being a big kid would be all about.

I will definitely we going back since reunions are always a must. Next time I will bring more waterproof clothes.

A lot has happened

The beauty of the internet is even when you come back to a blog you had poured your heart and soul into years later it is still there waiting for you. Like a good friend that never forgot your good stories that you were willing to share.

Life takes hold and you become lost in time, what do you do when you want to recap your life into something that future you and other yet unknown passersby.

I used to start a long forgot blog post with a "So let's start at the beginning" but now I am no longer that person. Maybe I am since I did make mention to it.

Personally, days turned in years right before my eyes. Things changed, we moved around and all of us who are lucky enough are still making our way through the hard days alone but the better days with friends and laughter.

The big limitless world doesn't need to know everything that has happened but here we go anyways.

I finally got into a job that I love and can be good at with minimal paperwork and desk responsibilities. Nothing that is out of my parameters of life experience. I am more honest now with my work and even more so about where I am going with the time that I have put in towards it.

A part of life perhaps.

My living situation has changed immensely and it has been lovely enough for me to earn the pseudo-title of "Nomadic" once again. A house on wheels allows us to travel anywhere we want to go, I know that the distance that this type of home can provide is nothing like getting on a plane. Alas, being a bit more neurotic in my humble abode has been a good thing.

Finally, I can sit down and assess my needs from my wants, what is harmful and what isn't on a bigger scale starting with myself. It seems very fitting that the importance of these minor changes can allow one to be more involved with all aspects of life.

Changing my thoughts on family started to occur and this is due to overcoming bigger obstacles with a supportive and loving soulmate. This opened windows and doors to the opportunities available for living a good life. Balancing emotions and going through them has given me perspective and as we all know, that is all we can do besides embracing change.

Honestly, I feel like the growth that I have done makes the day seem like minuscule tasks in the present day have a bigger purpose and meaning.

All in all the time we spend doing the things we love whether we take a break or not always brings us back to our roots. If that is challenging then it is what we are meant to be doing.

Lead by example is what he says, so never feel bad about doing what needs to be done now. Since the present day is all we really got. Thanks for reading.

First Class on A Long Haul Flight to Japan

I don't usually write about flights, since we all know that you get fed, try to sleep or watch copious amounts of television and hope that when you wake up you are being fed again whilst you patiently waiting for your descent.

This time was different, we got the 'wide' seats. We were on stand-by thanks to an ex-delta pilot and reaped the rewards of someone no showing for their Delta One flight. Since they only had one seat available when we first arrived I was prepared for us either waiting for the next flight to Tokyo.

As you can tell by the title, we made it on and, what a ride! Unlimited drinks, snacks and fancy meals with more than one course. Without a doubt we were elated and ready to make this haul with fully reclining seats. That is right folks they fold all the way down with pillows, blankets and a little box packed with all the daily fixens in it to make our flight as comfortable as possible.

Adam read his book, watched movies and napped at his leisure with ample cups of tea and mini salted dark chocolates we could eat.

I ended up vegging out and catching up on regular TV shows in a binge fashion as I played with the electric seat that had a massage option. Note to self: Get a massage chair. I didn't end up sleeping at all but it was by far the comfiest ride I have ever had in my entire life on a flight, even when I book economy and get a row to myself. I have been in business class once from Toronto to Seattle but this was the bees knees. I checked online and it equated to $4700 for the both of us! Talk about honeymoon luck :D

Victoria To Seattle

If you have been to Victoria, BC you already know that it is a lovely area to be in. When the weather is sunny and loving you sure can feel it in everyone around you. People are smiling and the ocean banks seem to glimmer a bit brighter than usual.

Anyone else think that Peacocks in the park is awesome?

The art in this capital city arises beyond my imagination, it seems to flourish everywhere I look. From artist drawing on the ferry, graffiti on the streets and even down to the art shops down by the docks. I was inspired to draw, paint and express myself in as many ways as possible. Even I picked up my pencil a more times than usual to see what one could create when surrounded in such lovely atmosphere.

Our purpose for being here during the early September times is for a festival called Rifflandia. The 10th year celebration of 10 venues with musicians rocking out every stage, an ample amount of music provided by the city. I highly recommend going if you have the opportunity in the years to come.
Full on 4 days and 4 nights of amazing artists preforming throughout with little tidbits of activities and many other events happening in the city. I couldn't imagine a better place to live, then again I do love coastal cities as much as mountain towns.

There was a 10 year anniversary called One Wave the international indigenous arts and culture celebration at the legislative grounds which was really informative. Most of all eye opening to see how elders and modern day society have flourished together.
After visiting some friends and family we were ready for a quick departure to Seattle. We were ferry bound to Port Angeles and from there we took a bus to Seattle airport (SEATAC). A lovely rainy evening in with a bath and take out, to prepare ourselves for the long haul journey ahead of us.
