Bonfire night: Celebrating the fact that
King James I in 1605 had survived the 'Gunpowder Plot', people lit bonfires around London, and months later the introduction of the
Observance of 5th November Act enforced an annual public day to give thanks for the plot's failure. (You've seen V for Vendetta right?)

Tonight we went to Markeaton Park to join thousands of people to watch a 40 foot fire ablaze before the fireworks went off. Also in the park there was a fun fair going on for the kiddies and of course the fast food vendors wafting their greasy smells through the night air.
