Video Games Live

The video above was a fantastic clip from VGL. I laughed, I relived it outside while I was smoking during intermission and then listened to others around me reenact it. Wonderful.

I have been to 2/3 VGL in Edmonton now and I know I will be going to future ones where ever I may be relocated since they have gone international.  Yay! They wow'd me again with FFVII music done by one of my favorite composers Nobuo Uematsu preformed by a full orchestra.

I failed at Guitar Hero on expert and then giving Marvel vs. Capcom a run I realized that not only am I rusty at playing video games....I kind of suck at them. After going I have this incredible urge to pick up some games and devote some time into the virtual reality. With books, anime and a busy social life I wonder if I can find the time to invest into another form of myself.
We also saw the infamous Martin Leung live...I am sure that you know the story he played the Mario theme songs blindfolded on youtube and then he recruited to tour with VGL around the world.

Lastly, worst video game titles, worst voice acting, there was a costume contest. Tetris won? I wouldn't have voted for them my vote went to Silent Hill.

I am very glad that I got Iain from work to come out with me to VGL, I had a fantastic time.

On that note I will leave you with this tid bit if awesome sauce, I hope you readers out there thinks this is as funny as we did.
That guy: "My girlfriend is mad at me, my parents are drunk and I don't have enough money for merch"
Jen and Iain "I'm glad that we aren't that guy" whispers... "She's probably missing jersey shore"

A Day in Red Deer - Dead Lovers Day

Alright first for the people that don't know Red Deer is 144.01km South of Edmonton with 82,772 residents so the drive should be about an hour and a bit. I know it isn't far but even the smallest step out of the city gives the wanderlust a bit of a nibble.

Trying to get out of town wasn't easy for us since we had a Friday night alcohol induced evening causing an 'Epic Fail' on my part. This ate up a lot of time on Saturday, waking up at 8am and not getting to Red Deer until 4pm....so many obstacles along the way.

Finally getting into our hotel we headed off to the play 'Dead Lovers Day' made it in the door with not a second to spare.

The evening started getting better from this point on.

A incredible play that I already saw once when they did a showing during the fringe festival here in Edmonton. now revamped with new costumes and a new character it was 10x more amazing.

Intermissions where everyone who hasn't been the same room together for what feels like eons, due to many of us relocating made many bear hugs and phantasmagorical reunions.

After the show it was time to celebrate the last showing and catch up with all sorts of old and new pretty awesome individuals. I met tons of kindred spirits and all in all the struggles we faced was worth the evening.
